Welcome to the Hanson
School Website
We are
pleased to welcome you to our website in which we will aim to share with you
the ethos and vision which underpin our provision of exciting and innovative
educational and social opportunities for all our young people.
The new
Hanson School building on the Sutton Avenue site, is the third building in
over 100 years to carry the proud Hanson Name (the first Hanson School
opened on Byron Street in 1897). Hanson School has a long established
reputation for excellence in education and care for our students and
support, for and involvement of, their families. The strong provision we
already have in place is being enhanced by the currently proceeding
conversion of the school to an Academy under the sponsorship of School
Partnership Trust: Academies (SPTA).
In
addition, as many in the local community will have seen, we are just
reaching the end of a significant new and refurbished building programme
which will, by Easter 2012, equip the school and empower our students, with
the very latest facilities and technology to enhance their learning
experience.
When we
become Hanson Academy we will enjoy the many benefits of being a member of
the School Partnership Trust: Academies group; an active family of schools
of different age ranges and contexts which ensures that good practice,
expertise and resources are shared amongst its member schools.
Hanson
governors and staff fully support the SPTA’s objectives which are totally
focused on the very best outcomes for all the young people in, and the
communities associated with, their schools. Our relationship with the SPTA
will enable us to benefit from greater collaboration between member schools
and offer a wider range of learning opportunities and extra-curricular
activities for our students. We believe this is the best way in which to
fulfil the unlimited potential in all of our students.
We hope
you enjoy reading the content of this website and look forward to welcoming
you to the school as part of its learning community. If you want to contact
the governing body for any reason, please write to the Chair of Governors
via the Headteacher at the school.
