Home Access Scheme
Re:  Grants for Computer and Broadband Connection

The government recently announced their Home Access Scheme that will help more families to get online at home and is aimed at those who need it most.
From 11th January 2010, families with children in years 3 – 9 (approximately age 7 – 14) will be able to apply for a grant to buy a computer and broadband connection.
In order to qualify, a child will need to be entitled to a free school meal and the parent/carer will need to be in receipt of one of the following:-

·
Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance;
·
Income Support;
·
Child Tax Credit (but not Working Tax Credit) and on income of less than £16,040;
·
Income-based Employment Support Allowance; or
·
Guaranteed element of the Pension Credit.

In the first instance, the parent/carer will need to ring to request an application form for a Home Access grant.  If they meet the eligibility criteria, as defined above, they will then receive a pre-loaded debit card to spend on one Home Access computer and one broadband connection per family for one year.  This offer is available from a list of approved suppliers.  Due to the nature of the scheme, every device is pre-set with parental controls to block unsuitable content.  The computers also have a wide range of software to support learning.

 For more information as to how a parent can apply for a Home Access Grant call 0333 200 1004 or visit www.homeaccess.org.uk

The Pulse Fitness Centre

On the 15th Feb 2010 once again we saw the heavy machinery move in to Hanson.  This time it was to start building the new 'Pulse Fitness Centre'.  It is not expected to take long to build the fitness centre but in the mean time it does mean that any one using or visiting Hanson must take extreme caution.

During this time there will be no facilities for any on-site car parking within the school grounds.
We would ask all parents and carers to please be considerate to local residents when parking, and walk or use public transport where possible.

We do apologise for any inconvenience cause during this time.
