Eleanor Farjeon Award Awarded for an outstanding contribution to children's literature, the 2002 award goes to Philip Pullman. His strong and often controversial views have caused much debate in the media and book worlds, helping to change public perception of children's books. Whitbread Children's Book Award This has been awarded to Hilary McKay for Saffy's Angel. The book goes forward for the main Whitbread Book of the Year with all the other category winners.

The Blue Peter Awards
The winner of the "Book I Couldn't Put Down" category was Feather Boy by Nick Singer.

Guardian Children's Fiction Prize The prize for 2002 goes to Sonya Hartnett for Thursday's Child.
