The LRC aims to support the subject needs and
personal research of Sixth Form students in a variety of ways.
During your studies, you will need to gather information from
a much broader range of sources, with the LRC acting as an “information
gateway” to further information and research avenues,
outside the LRC and Hanson School.
It can do this by:
Providing a qualified and experienced LRC Manager and LRC
Assistants who are available throughout the day to discuss
information needs and to guide users
Encouraging independent learning, and guiding users to a wider world of information.
Providing a Sixth Form collection of resources, as well as access to main LRC
collection
Offering a wide selection of current-awareness resources in national and local
newspapers, general and subject-specific journals.
Providing guided access to the Internet and a range of CD-ROMs and on-line
resources .
Sixth Form students have access to the LRC throughout the school day, as well
as before and after school.
Students may borrow up to 6 items, and make full use of
the reservation system for popular items already out on loan.
Don’t forget LRC staff are available throughout the
day if you need help finding information or structuring your
research. We can also help you to find information from other
sources outside the school to widen your search and improve
your research results.
