The LRC supports the curricular needs of staff
from every department in the school. It aims to do this by:
- Providing an efficient team of staff including an experienced
information professional to discuss and support information
and reading needs.
- Providing resources to support subjects, on an individual basis.
- Providing collections of resources to take away to support classroom projects.
- Booking class groups into the LRC for research and information skills lessons.
- Supporting small groups of students from classes, requiring resources to
support classroom work.
· Developing a staff collection of resources containing catalogues of
books, CDRoms, videos, on-line resources, website address books, books on professional
matters, the TES including back-copies.
You can help the LRC to become more effective by:
- Keeping the LRC Manager informed and up-to-date
about the work and current initiatives of your curricular
area.
- Providing plenty of advanced notice of any special projects, so that appropriate
resources may be gathered beforehand.
- Offering suggestions for new resources in the LRC so that materials remain
relevant to the users’ needs.
- Don't forget, you can visit the LRC for a chat about support or a new venture
in your subject, at any time. There is a member of staff available throughout
the school day, as well as before and after school hours
