Text Box: Entry Requirements  -  5 A-C at GCSE.  Double BB in Science and at least a grade C in Mathematics.

This AQA modular course covers a wide range of Chemistry topics and
includes the Chemistry Common Core.  It is both a theoretical and a
practical course, and marks are gained for practical skills.

Structure of the Course
The year 12 course will consist of 3 modules leading to an Advanced
Subsidiary qualification.

Units in Year 12
Unit 1 - Atomic Structure, Bonding and The Periodic Table
Unit 2 - Foundation Physical and Inorganic Chemistry
Unit 3 - Introduction to Organic Chemistry


The Year 13 course consists of a further 3 modules leading to a full ‘A’ Level
qualification.

Unit 4 - Further Physical and Organic Chemistry
Unit 5 - Thermodynamics and Further Inorganic Chemistry
Unit 6 - Synoptic Chemistry

During the two years there will be opportunities to experience Chemistry
in higher education with trips to leading universities.

Advanced Chemistry is essential to enter a degree in medicine, dentistry and
veterinary science as well as all other chemical science courses.  

Chemistry graduates are highly sought after and can choose from career paths as diverse as law, marketing and accountancy, in addition to following a traditional
science-based vocation.
