Text Box: AS/‘A’ LEVEL ENGLISH LITERATURE Text Box: Entry requirements - 5 A-C at GCSE and an A or B at English. The one year course leading to the AS qualification will consist of 3 units of study: The Modern Novel (one novel studied) Texts in Context (one poetry and one drama text) Shakespeare (coursework – one play) There will be an examination on Unit 1 in January and Unit 2 in June. The second year of the course will lead to the full ‘A’ level qualification and will consist of a further 3 units: Texts in Time (1 pre 1770 poetry and 1 pre 1900 drama text) Reading for Meaning (Synoptic Unit: War Literature) Literary Connections (coursework comparing 2 texts) It is likely that Unit 4 will be examined in January and Units 5 & 6 in June.
