Text Box: The aim of the course is to give a foundation, both practical and theoretical, for further study or for a career in Drama. The course will allow students to work outside the school environment in the community and beyond. The course offers: A practically based 2 year full time vocational course in Performing Arts A 2 GCE ‘A’ Level equivalent qualification offering access into the performing arts industry of Higher Education. We have a growing reputation in the performing arts field and are looking to build on this to allow our students to move into the performing arts as a full time career choice. Students may wish to combine this course with other GCE ‘A’ Level courses. Success on a BTEC National Diploma can provide an entry route in Higher Education courses at university, Drama and Dance Schools or Music Colleges. Completion of the course requires students to be fully committed to the Arts; and to involve themselves in both major and studio productions during the two years. A course portfolio provides the evidence for a final assessment to be made. The students will be involved in a final major production during Year 13 and therefore, the group will usually be ‘on tour’ for one week, again providing evidence for the assessment procedure.
