The BTEC Nationals in Sport have been developed to meet the employment
opportunities within the Sport and Leisure industry. They provide the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills for success in current and future employment, or for progression to higher level courses, such as BTEC Higher Nationals or
Degrees.

This is a twelve unit course over 2 years. The qualification consists of core units (which are mandatory) and specialist units. It is broadly equivalent to two ‘A’
Levels.

BTEC will include:

Sport in Society
The Reflective Practitioner
Ethics and Values in Sport
Health and Safety in Sport
The Body in Action
Psychology for Sport Performance
Nutrition for Weight Management
Fitness Testing
Training and Fitness
Sports Injuries
Principles of Coaching
Practical Sports Study (Teams)

The B/TEC National Certificate is a more practical course than the traditional ‘A’ Level PE course. There is no formal examination at the end of the course as it is continually assessed on coursework only.
